Accountancy Field Report Chapter 3 & 4

CHAPTER THREE
ANALYSIS
This chapter contains description of skills learnt; these skills are application of theoretical knowledge, working as a team, how to interact with people, how information flows, unit, knowledge in budgeting government fund. Also involve review of how experience has affected career plans and ambitions, to understand how to use computer and what skills the student may be currently lacking.
3.1SKILLS LEARNED
3.1.1 WORKING AS A TEAM
Being in an organization, new life style was experienced where by employees working together as a team despite of their differences to achieve the same goal. Also the lesson was how the working relation influences performance in the organization.
3.1.2 HOW INFORMATION FLOWS
Information flows from a top level to the lowest level that is from the board of directors to the subordinates. Also the mistakes of an employee is better being solved by an organization as whole, therefore blame should not go to an individual employee rather steps are taken by the organization generally.
3.1.3 HOW TO INTERACT WITH OTHER PEOPLE ACCORDING TO THEIR BEHAVIOR
Also being in an organization it helped to know the behavior of different people and how to interact with them so as to reach the same goals. This involves the way people live, behave and respect to each other while working. Also it was learnt how useful values such as punctuality, confidentiality, accountability and how to respect others. Also feeling to behave and work as a real employee in the organization and offering services in real situation.
3.1.4 UNITS IN AN ORGANISATION
The lesson learnt was how to get skills and knowledge in an organization that though having unit in an organization as a committee of planning it requires understanding in each other in budgeting different projects which are to be implemented in a particular financial year. This is very important because it can reduce frauds of government fund.
3.1.5 CONFIDENCE
While in an organization it was learnt that confidence can make any worker perform well in the duty assigned. This can make easy to communicate with other members of department to perform a particular task
3.2 GAPS IN TEACHING BETWEEN THEORY AND PRACTICE
It was realized that in some aspects there were gaps in teaching theory and practice. Those aspects more practices needed rather than theoretical aspects. The major areas in which there was a big gap in teaching theories and practice was about fixed content of curricular outline in the University offered courses as a way of obtaining the varied and heterogeneous skills and professional experience of the open world so as to be up to date and reduce the gap between teachings theory and practice where by more practical should be emphasized in computer application where special attention must be put in programs like excel and access.
In some aspects there was no gap between theory and practice. In matters like data entry in compute, interpretation and report writing and budgeting government fund as a part of economics matters.
3.3 RELEVANCE OF FIELD PRACTICAL TRAINING AND CURRENTLY LUCKING
Field practical training was relevant and helped to obtain training and valuable experience in real life situation it helps to integrate theory and practice. It enhances skills, knowledge, work abilities, attitudes towards specialization and develop habits in critical thinking and get exposed to economic decisions.
The FPT helped to acquire new ideas in solving problems, analytical skills in new technology, also it enable to acquire new knowledge in work place because it is not possible to acquire every knowledge in the class therefore the FPT filled the gaps which were not possible to be filled in the class.
Gained high level of confidence in working, adaptation of new system and on working with people with different perception, for example there was ability to experience practically the economic projects

  1. CONCLUSION AND DISCUSSION

4.1DISCUSSION

4.1.1 SKILLS DISCOVERED

The FPT session has been a tool in any study, because it helps to learn a lot of practical matters related to studies. The FPT under Makambako Town Council helped to gain some practical knowledge and skills necessary to accomplish studies.

The MTC helped to work with employees of different kind of behavior, also helped to learn new things which could not be easily to present through theory. Also learned about discipline required in real working environment, working with people of different background, experience and social behavior has improved attitude towards people of different kinds. Learned how to behave while working with people especially in team work, learned about bureaucratic procedures involved in working environment and the way information flows from the top level to low level. The FPT helped to gain more insight of working environment and improve any altitude and confidence towards real working environment.

Also the FPT helped to be familiar with other council’s employees and this has been profitable because leads to get more advice from them and various strategies to apply on studies as well as in working place. Therefore leads to know how to undertake work interviews and how to be a great economist/planner in the country.

4.1.2 PROBLEMS DURING FPT

While I was working in Makambako Town Council some of the problems I faced during my training practical are as follows:

INSUFICIENT WORKING FACILITIES

Like computers were few in numbers compared to number of workers and students attending field practical training. This is makes slow down the work to be done. This also resulted to the students remain idle for some times when the duties assigned required the use of computer and all computers are in  use of other duties or other occasions missed even chairs to sit.

INSUFFICIENT EMPLOYEES

In Makambako Town Council there is a few numbers of employees especially planning department this resulted to underperformance of the work in planning, budgeting and evaluating different projects at time.

POOR ACCOMODATION

This means there was few rooms which can accommodate many workers due to this made some workers to use one room or office, for example the planning and the procurement and supply departments use one room, also this room is not enough to accommodate the workers and the field practical student where the FPT students had to use the conference hall as their office.

BELIEVES 

Other workers especially senior, they don’t believe field practical training students as they are not competent to the current works in the department where many works are done by the seniors the field practical students are asked to complete the already started work. In this matter the student are not learning and getting well experience on all matter such that they are not allowed to participate in evaluation of projects and recommendation.

4.1.3 EXPECTATIONS BEFORE GOING TO THE TRAINING

Before going to the practical training there were things that expected to achieve and learn from the field practical training place. Some were fulfilled and some were not met. It was expected to exercise exactly things that have been taught in class. Some of the theory taught in the class was applicable in duties that put them in practical way; some of these were distribution of national income that is government fund to different projects, the use of excel and access software programs in preparation of different budget and report.

4.2 DISCUSSION AND RECOMMENDATION

4.2.1 PROVISION OF WORKING FACILITIES

The organization should provide sufficient working facilities especially computer compared to the number of workers; this will help them to work faster. Also it will help to keep safe the document.

4.2.2 IMPROVE ACCOMODATION FACILITIES

Also the organization should provide and increase the number and size of rooms compared to the number of workers and department available. Also the Council must consider the number of students with the accommodation of that number. The Council should also provide or allocate funds for students undertaking the field training to curter for meals and transport.

4.2.3 BELIEVE TO FIELD PRACTICAL TRAINING STUDENTS

The council should believe that the field practical students as part of the organization. So they must train them as other workers in real employment by making them involve in different matters in the organization concerning the departments.

4.3 CONCLUSION

General speaking practical training is very important for higher learning students to enable them from learnt in classes and how do they use practically. The system used by college is better and preferable to make student cope with the environment of employment.On the regard to the case study Makambako Town Council is very good organization in making a student to be competence in performance of the task on the regarding to the matter or task given/assigned. It can be suggested the college to create friendship situation with Organization in order for their students to have great chance of getting area for their field practical training and employment in general, friends and also it is easily to get job/Employed through field.
